Bicycle Across America

My name is Scott Wallace and in the spring and early summer of 2012 I’m cycling across the United States of America.

This will culminate in me realising an ambition and a dream I’ve had for over 10 years, and only very recently have I had the opportunity to fulfill.

The responses I get from people are amusing and range from “Oh that is so awesome….that will be a fantastic once in a lifetime adventure… I envy you….I’m so jealous…..”

…… to other end of the spectrum of reactions where others just don’t get it and almost pity me “Are you mad? …..  Why would you want to do that? ….  Oh God no, I would rather eat my own toe nails than do something like that”

Yet I now find myself in a position where I am re-evaluating my priorities in life, particularly after many years of building a career and experiencing the trappings of success. I realise that some of those pleasures come at a cost and sometimes it’s the simple things in life that define true happiness. So with:

• the warm sun on my face
• fresh air filling my lungs
• a sense of curiosity, ambition and adventure in my mind
• the adrenaline and excitement beating in my heart
• and the re-assurance that I have love of my family in my heart

……  I’m ready to conquer America …. on my bike!
